The project consists of book cover illustrations for 3 classic war books by Ernest Hemingway. My objective was to offer a fresh take on the author that would be suitable for the high-quality reprint market. I re-examined Hemingway’s writing and decided to focus on his use of nature, omens, and our relationships with animals to reflect on experiences and conditions that are distinctly human. Each concept is based on natural motifs and allegorical passages from the books, and allude to the stories’ central themes.
